  I will avoid this place like the plague. I left in a number of alteration jobs for clothes. Only one was satisfactory in a normal way. Another item of good clothing I think of as ruined. As for another three items of clothing from the batch I left in, I had to bring them to another alteration shop before I could wear them to have all three redone, and not really by a small degree.
  
  What I was charged would be good value, I thought when leaving the items in including a discount. (I also had this erroneous thought when collecting them, before I knew). But what is the point when it's worse than things were before (apart from the one successful item), having paid nearly £60? And then another £10 - £20, on top of that to another alterations shop which was closing down due to lack of business and had very good discount offers.
  
  I remember I insisted that I got measured for 3 pairs of trousers to be altered in Threads, though it seemed the tailor was not really interested in this. I was given excuses about them being very busy just before, though was also told that no-one comes in (on that day), whatever it meant!
  
  I tried on each pair of trousers and measurements were taken. I was concerned that my opinion and the tailors might differ, as to length, so I gave a clear idea of how I wanted the length. This was to the assistant. Then she asked the tailor to come over and check, which sounded like a huge problem for the tailor. The tailor then did this but adjusted the length to be a bit longer, telling me "You don't know". She said "It has to hang a bit".
  
  Then, further, just as I was going to change out of the trousers, she said, "They'll be longer", paused, "Still. ... Than I said", then saying, "Than you first said. It should be good. She said she "had to do it" that way, she is professional. I looked at her, puzzled and said, "What?", and she said, "I've told you about that. I know", paused, then, "What I'm doing. I've so much to do. This will take a few weeks. A fortnight at the earliest."
  
  I asked the tailor if she had been working as a tailor there long, and she told me that she had been there for quite a long time.
  
  Each of the three pair of trousers was much longer than I'd asked for the length. There was hardly anything taken in. When I went to the next alteration shop to have them redone, that tailor told me she was actually taking in a significant amount, anyway. But especially, she said, considering they had already been "adjusted".
  
  I didn't want to talk to Threads again, either to ask for a refund or complain. You just wouldn't go there in the circumstances to ask for something to be redone, and I supposed that I would be met with surprise and told that things can be redone if you want. I got out with some things that could be saved and I was sure that was the last I'll ever have to do with Threads.
  
  I don't know what their curtains service is like, but I certainly won't be finding out, nor bringing any more clothes.
  
  I was looking for a good alterations shop in Belfast for repeat visits, but at least I find out the hard way, with one ruined, good (quite expensive) piece of clothing, to avoid this one. Unfortunately the next one I went to is closed down now.
