My husband and myself thought we would treat ourselves and have lens replacements (we'd got to that age were we needed to wear reading glasses) and hearing from a friend about Cathedral Eye clinic and the goods reports we decided to book ourselves in for a consultation. My husband on examination was told that his reading would improve if he had one lens replaced in his left eye to help him see without wearing his reading glasses. Unfortunately, it didn't work, and then it was suggested to replace the lens in his right eye. My husband had so much trouble with a shadow down the side of his vision and glare from lights and loss of sight distance with the first lens replacement he was too frightened to go ahead with the second lens replacement. He is still wearing his reading glasses with the added bonus of sight problems in his right eye. I also had lens replacements in both eyes. On my first consultation I was (slightly long sighted) and my eye sight was fluctuating due to me having RKs back in 1993. I was told that they would be able to help improve on the long sight. I still have the fluctuating sight, plus floaters, plus a twitch and need to wear glasses from about 3:00pm for short sight. So, I have gone from needing reading glasses to wearing glasses for distance. My husband and I have been left very disappointed with the whole process and feel after numerous visits we have been eventually told, in very nice terms, that there is nothing more they can do. So if you can put up with your reading glasses and you don't have a cataract or a medical emergency, stick with your glasses.
